That’s really interesting. Can you explain to us why you believe process mining and task mining have their limitations and why productivity mining is the go-to approach?

Of course. While process mining and task mining have their benefits, they both have their limitations. Process mining is limited by its requirement to access application log files, which limits the breadth of coverage in complex IT environments, making it time-consuming and often manual. Additionally, it doesn’t provide insights on user behavior. Task mining, on the other hand, is biased in its tracking of workflow at the user activity level, but unable to aggregate data at scale. Many task recorders are screenshot dependent and require manual start/stop of the recording function.

But productivity mining provides unique organization-wide visibility, complete with task-level detail across all desktop business systems with which users interact. It provides visibility of People, Process, and Technology domains at all organizational levels with the full transformation potential.

That’s impressive indeed. What metaphor would you use to explain how productivity mining makes a difference compared to process or task mining?

Think of traditional process mining and task mining like looking through a keyhole. You can only see a small piece of the picture. But with productivity mining, it’s like opening the door to the entire room. You can see everything that’s happening and gain a complete understanding of the process.

It’s like having a complete x-ray vision for your business processes. Not a one that gives into partial insight into what is really happening behind the scenes.
